Dan Jamieson (born 1987) is an artist, living and working in Nottingham, mainly involved in ceramics.

He makes handmade 'hate plates' involving blunt, sometimes rude, and charmingly crude statements that are often humorous or hard hitting and equally bold and equally crass.

They centre around the rigours and awkwardness of socialising, family and friend’s irritating habits, drinking, snacking, misplaced nostalgia and interior designers aiming to provoke a reaction in the viewer as a conversation piece.

The hate plates started out as an experiment during a ceramics class at Turning Earth. When those pieces quickly sold out, he decided to make more and has continued since.

His works are now collected worldwide and have formed a devoted fanbase amongst clients and celebrities alike. His work has been featured in The Sunday Times Style, Grazia, and Vogue Canada together with many influential interior designers’ social media accounts.

He has progressed into bigger and bolder screenprints and neon artworks exclusive to Air Contemporary Gallery, while still staying faithful to pushing and pursuing new ideas with the original hate plates.

Don't say it to their face, say it with a hate plate instead.

gallery bio.

Dan Jamieson is a British artist, illustrator, and ceramicist whose work blends humour, social commentary, and bold visual language. Originally from Nottingham, he studied Fine Art Painting at Camberwell College of Arts, developing a multidisciplinary approach that continues to define his practice today.

In recent years Jamieson has expanded into screenprints, paintings, and notably neon works — glowing text-driven pieces that extend his sharp wit into luminous installation. This evolution continues to push the energy and visibility of his art beyond the domestic and into more immersive settings.

Jamieson is represented exclusively by Air Contemporary, and his work is held by international private collectors. His rapid rise — from ceramics experiments to a diverse and sought-after portfolio — highlights both his adaptability and the strength of his artistic voice.

A boundary-pushing young figure in British art, Dan Jamieson merges sincerity with satire and craftsmanship with experimentation. His practice continues to grow in ambition and scale, positioning him as an exciting emerging artist with a uniquely recognisable presence in contemporary culture.
